Rebuilding Lives
Let Fred Brighten Your Day
Here at Boaz & Ruth, program participants take ownership and pride in their successes, and Fred Lloyd is no exception. He states, "(Being at B&R has) helped build my confidence. Having the stigma of a felony can really diminish your confidence, but I have built confidence and drive. The attitude of I can versus I can't." Learn more about how Fred brightens the day of many at Boaz & Ruth here.

House Donated to Boaz & Ruth
Virginia Miller recently blessed Boaz & Ruth by donating her house located on 2nd Avenue. She states, "It is a blessing to be able to share some of my good fortune with Boaz and Ruth. They are doing wonderful things in the Highland Park Community. It was a joy to see their work and eat at the Firehouse Cafe, and meet some of the people who make Boaz and Ruth so special." This gift supports our vision of providing affordable housing for those who wouldn't be able to afford to live independently otherwise. We are so thankful for her family's generosity and vision for our organization and community. See the house...
Connecting Community
Pit Crew Pit Bull Classes at Boaz & Ruth
Ring Dog Rescue launched Pit Crew in the Highland Park Community. This program uses a multi-pronged approach-community outreach, Pit Bull Training Team classes, the Canines & Communities humane education curriculum, and law enforcement partnerships-to help divert at-risk youth from dog fighting. The program focuses on basic dog training, dog handling, and a few tricks! The main focus of the program is to improve the bond between dog and owner while working toward earning their Canine Good Citizen certification through the American Kennel Club. We're proud to be partners with such a worthy cause. Learn more...

Long Walk to Freedom - Save the Date
Release from jail or prison is only the beginning of a person's walk to freedom. True freedom comes as a person reconnects with himself, with friends and family, and with society.
Join Boaz & Ruth and the Richmond Community for this years 6th annual Long Walk to Freedom November 17th. This walk symbolizes the journey a formerly imprisoned individual makes once they leave the prison system. Save the date and find us on Facebook...

Megan Rollins Wins Stettinius Award
Congratulations to Megan Rollins for receiving the Stettinius Award for Nonprofit Leadership. Now in its 8th year, this awards program seeks to recognize outstanding professionals who provide effective organizational leadership within the charitable sector. After reviewing nominations of many exceptional candidates, the selection committee chose three individuals - Randee Humphrey, Damon Jiggetts, and Megan Rollins - to receive $10,000 grants each to pursue professional development activities of their own design. Megan will use the award to help her obtain a master's degree in public administration at Virginia Commonwealth University. Megan's leadership at Boaz & Ruth as Chief Operating Officer continues to make a positive impact in our community and we are excited to see the result of this investment in Megan's future.
